Prevalence of ASD Increased by 57% in American 8-Year-Olds

Approximately 1% of 8-year-old children in the United States meet criteria for an autism spectrum disorder, based on results of a nationwide study of 8-year-olds conducted in 2006, according to findings published in a surveillance summary as part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
